I use two basic html code thingies to do all my linking. Just take out the spaces to use them yourself. I also use center, blockquote and i (for italic) and b (for bold.) They all just go like this < i > text < / i > Without the spaces, of course. Preview everything and check that your links go somewhere.

I like to link the previous chapter to the top of the new chapter. Then I go back and edit the previous chapter to link to the next one. That way people can read the whole story without going back. (And I can re-read without hassle.)

(there should be a space between cut and text)
It is polite to put an entry longer than a paragraph or two under an lj-cut. This prevents your friend's 'friend page' from becoming clogged with super long entries. (it is also required to post your story directly to Copper for a Kiss, which I never do.)
